Synopsis

Set during the Great Depression, Water for Elephants follows young Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student whose life crumbles after a devastating loss. Desperate and directionless, he climbs onto a moving train, only to discover it's the home of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth - a ragtag circus teetering on the edge of. As Jacob cares for the animals, including the majestic elephant Rosie, he falls in love with Marlena, the beautiful star performer already in a abusive marriage to the domineering ringmaster, August. Told through flashbacks from an elderly Jacob's perspective, the story brings themes of resilience, forbidden love, and the wonder of the big top.
