“The best new musical of the year – by far.” – The Wall Street Journal
SYNOPSIS
Kimberly is about to turn 16 years old – however, in Kimberly’s world, the age of 16 looks a bit different from others. She suffers from a rare genetic condition similar to progeria that results in her aging four-and-a-half times as fast as others, hence her appearance is similar to that of an older woman. She is the new girl in town, with many dreams to fulfil before her time on earth is done.
Kimberly’s story is that of a teenager trying to find happiness against all odds – from navigating life in her dysfunctional family to possible felony charges, from her very first teenage crush to making messy choices with messy repercussions. At the core of it all, Kimberly is trying to live life to the absolute fullest, not allowing challenges to get in the way, even if time is not on her side.
“The season’s most moving new play earns its place among the behemoths of Broadway.” – The New York Times

CAST
Few productions delve as deep into the humanity of characters quite like Kimberly Akimbo. The characters are raw and authentic, which contributes greatly to their unpredictability. “It’s one of those perfect inventions that convinces you that the world isn’t so terrible after all. Hilarious and heartbreaking, it’s the kind of entertainment – wise, original, moving – that stamps musical theatre as one of the best things ever made in America.” – The Washington Post
