Synopsis

Set at the time of the Great Depression, Water for Elephants follows young Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student whose life crumbles after a devastating loss. Hopeless and directionless, he climbs onto a moving train, only to discover it's the home of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth - a ragtag circus teetering on the edge of. As Jacob looks after the animals, including the extraordinary elephant Rosie, he falls deeply in love with Marlena, the stunning star performer already in a abusive marriage to the domineering ringmaster, August. Told through flashbacks from an elderly Jacob's perspective, the story brings themes of resilience, forbidden romance, and the wonder of the big top.
