"Six" was created as a production by the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society in 2017 in the United Kingdom. The excitement of those showings led to a professional production that toured the United Kingdom in 2018.
"Six" made its official debut on London’s West End in 2019. It had a well-received run until the pandemic obstructed events for most of 2020.
The musical-comedy has continued to grow in popularity and was part of tours across the world. It finally moved to New York City, where it was the first new show to begin performing on Broadway after COVID-19.
It continues to travel across the U.S.A. and the world today. An fascinating twist to the production of "Six" was that Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss used actual pop stars to model the characters. They used inspiration from singers like Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Adele, Celine Dion, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Alicia Keys for the character creation.

Six is that musical experience you never knew you wanted, but you had not the faintest hint you wanted! If we're honest, no one could have predicted being a massive fan of a performance that parodies the lives of the wives of Henry VIII and imagines them rocking a musical! The knowledge that you're going to want to fully enjoy this production is in your old textbooks. That might make an intriguing experience even before you arrive at the theater because it could be a great idea to refresh your memory of what happened with each of Henry's wives before you make it out to Providence Performing Arts Center on Saturday 25th October 2025. That way, you'll catch all of the inside jokes and the jabs, particularly between Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn.
History teachers everywhere can gain insight from the playwrights of this one! It's tough to get people interested in a history course. When Henry VIII is involved, though, the tale includes intrigue, executions, and a plenty of affairs, so it draws people in that people tend to gravitate toward these things. The way it's presented through all of these tunes is going to have you on your feet, chuckling, swaying, doing exactly that you'd hope to experience at a musical! By the way, it's also a much less formal than your standard musical experience, so that idea of being on your feet won't be too frowned upon. Think of it like the Mamma Mia energy!
Some of the greatest spots inside any theater for a stage show are always toward the middle of the theater. That's the middle, no matter how you slice it, which means in the middle section and at least a couple of rows back from the stage. At a show like this, it could also be a good idea to seek out seats at Providence Performing Arts Center with a touch of additional legroom. You’ll be grateful!
